Cornelius Tacitus was a 1^st-century Roman historian who is now remembered for his two major works – ‘Annals’ and ‘Histories’ – in which he examines the lives and political careers of important Roman emperors such as Tiberius, Nero, and Claudius. By many accounts, Tacitus is considered the greatest Roman historian, not only by the accuracy of his content, but through demonstrating the psychological nature of ancient Roman politics.

 

This 1620 Italian edition was translated by Girolamo Canini and contains a printing of the life of Agricola, all edited and collected by Adriano Politi. However, the draw of this particular edition is the famous double-page map of the Roman Empire!
