Folio with hundreds of engraved English arms!

John Guillim was a 16th-century English historian best remembered for his book ‘A Display of Heraldry’. First published in 1610, this book, which was originally thought to be written by John Barkham, consisted of hundreds of in-text engraved figures depicting various coats-of-arms from around Britain – arms of various earls, dukes, town and city crests, family symbols, and so much more. Interestingly, this work displays the arms of each with direction on color, shapes, and even precious stones to be used.

While all of the illustrations found in this folio are important, the arms depicting mythical creatures and monsters are particularly desirable. Note the inclusion of harpies, dragons, cockatrices, drakes, and mermaids.
