1611 Biblia Sacra Lutheran Osiander BIBLE + Mystic Commentary New Testament
A highly rare example of an early 17th-century New Testament Biblia Sacra published in Frankfurt in 1611. In 1522, Andreas Osiander edited and corrected an edition of the Vulgate Bible which included important portions of Luther’s Small Catechism. This edition, published nearly a century later, features the Vulgate that Osiander, a devout Christian mystic, used in his 16th-century.
This particular example is quite rare in that it was bound with multiple full-page blank sheets between each page of text. This concept was used for Bible scholars to include their own handwritten commentary. While the majority of the sheets in this example are empty, there is a number of leaves that includes notes. All printed leaves are consecutive and present.
