Tommaso Garzoni was a 16^th-century Italian author whose works popularized him throughout Europe. One of his best works was his “Professions of the World” in which he discusses the most common professions from around Italy during the 16^th-century; however, this book is notable for Garzoni’s descriptions of magicians, conjurers, alchemists, astrologers, law enforcers and criminals, and prostitutes.
