Pythagoras is one of the important figures in ancient Greek philosophy. Living in the 6^th-century BC, Pythagoras is known to have been an influence to figures such as Plato and Aristotle. Much of the legend of Pythagoras is due to Iamblichus, a 3^rd-century BC historian, who wrote the first biography of Pythagoras and his philosophies and mathematical theories. While not all of Iamblichus’s work on Pythagoras survived, that which did is a considerable trove of resource into ancient Greek philosophy and Pythagorean mathematics. ‘The Pythagorean Way of Life’, or ‘De Vita Pythagorica’ includes the philosophies of Porphyry and Photios I.

This 1598 edition includes both Latin and Greek texts in parallel, printed at the Heidelberg by Commeliniano.
