A remarkable attempt to explain symbolism of the Egyptian and ancient mythology (Gregorovius)

Pierio Valeriano Bolzani was an important early 16th-century Italian humanist most-known for his extensive studies and works on Egyptian hieroglyphics. His best work, ‘Hieroglyphica,’is a study on hieroglyphics and the use of allegory throughout Egyptian culture. When Horapollo’s work of hieroglyphics was rediscovered, Valeriano sought to publish a work during the craze for knowledge on hieroglyphics. While it took a while for the work to be completed, it is often considered the most concise representation of Egyptian symbols, even though it was largely influenced by Horapollo.
