“The truth can be perceived only through thinking”

Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica

A rare 17th-century printing of the famous “Summa Theologica” by Thomas Aquinas. This work is considered Aquinas’

“most perfect work, the fruit of his mature years, in which the thought of his whole life is condensed”. (Perrier, 149).

Summa’ makes references to many great thinkers and philosophers who were important during Aquinas’s time and makes strong arguments about theology and lawful living.

This tome from the enormous 1593 edition of the works of Aquinas was published in Venice by Dominicum Nicolinum and features portions of the ‘Summa’ including sections on study of human nature. In addition to the works of Aquinas, this tome features the famous commentary of Cajetan. This commentary was mistakenly interpreted as portraying Aquinas in a negative light, when Cajetan had no intention of that at all.
