Raffaello Borghini (1537 – 1588) was a playwright and poet Italian art critic, often remembered for his Comedies, most of which were tragedies and romances. L’amante furioso (The furious lover) was first written in 1583.

 

We do not find any other examples of this work for sale anywhere else worldwide! 16^th-century Borghini works are exceedingly rare, and we only find one example of Marescotti printings of Borghini works sold at auction elsewhere! Christies sold a 1584 Borghini in 1998 for $1,885!
