1568 Thomas Aquinas Commentary on Aristotle Politics Philosophy Venice Republic
An extremely rare 16th-century edition of Saint Thomas Aquinas’s commentary on Aristotle’s famous “Politics”. In the 13th-century, political philosophies beginning to diverge from the accepted Biblical teachings of the church. Aquinas developed his own views of political sciences when he began studying Aristotle’s philosophies. Aquinas was unable to complete his commentary on the entire ‘Politics’ by Aristotle. Instead, we only have commentary on the first three books of Aristotle’s work.
While Aquinas is perhaps better known for other famous works, this commentary is a famous fusion of two of the world’s most important philosophers – collected and edited by Julianus Rota.
