Vincenzo Cartari was a 16th-century Italian mythologist and Renaissance author. His most famous work “Imagini Colla Sposizione” (“Images depicting the gods”) is an important treatise on the mythology and the iconography of the gods. Cartari explains their forms and appearance as well as several of their important attributes.
