Lodovico Domenici was 16^th-century author and translator who was known for his editions of famous Greek and Roman authors such as Plutarch and Pliny. He did, however, write his own works as well. This work,’ La Nobilta Delle Donna’ or ‘The Nobility of Women’ was a work based on H.C. Agrippa’s 1529 treatise ‘Declamation on the Nobility of Women’ which pronounced the theological and moral superiority of women from cabalistic views.

 

Domenici sought to deal with more of the misogynistic tendencies of the Christian Church through giving social analysis of the 16^th-century female. This 1549 first edition is extremely rare with no other examples for sale worldwide.
